The imageRUNNER C3170U has been designed with an innovative dual processor supporting up to 1 GB RAM, and a 80GB hard disk, thus eliminating bottlenecks and improving network efficiency.

With the ability to scan originals at 44 pages-per-minute (300 dpi) and 28 pages-per-minute (600 dpi) in both color and black-and-white, combined with 2400 x 600 dpi output resolution, the imageRUNNER C3170U will make every image sharp, every gradiation smooth and every character crisp.

With Canon's standard Color Universal Send technology, users are able to scan and distribute documents to multiple destinations, eliminating the expense and administrative burden associated with conventional methods of printing, filing, and forwarding hard-copy documents. And with the optional PDF High-Compression Kit-A1, users can compress files to their absolute minimum file size for efficient sending.

Installed with an optional Super G3 Fax Board-S1 or the Super G3 Multi-Line Fax Board-F1 (2 lines) with the iR expansion RAM-C1, the imageRUNNER C3170U can be transformed into an advanced, easy-to-use fax machine.

With a standard 1,100-sheet paper capacity that can be expanded to support up to 4,750 sheets, the imageRUNNER C3170U can meet the volume requirements of any workgroup. Additionally, users have the ability to print onto various types of media, including transparencies, envelopes, and irregular-size paper.

An optional 50-sheet capacity Automatic Document Feeder makes scanning multipage and different-size originals easy.

With the optional Finisher-P1, an innovative, internally mounted finishing option, the imageRUNNER C3170U offers basic stapling and collating with the main device footprint.

Accessory Kits

Braille Label Kit-A1
The Braille Label Kit-A1 contains transparent Braille labels that affix to each hard key on the control panel except for the numeric keys. This is due to the conventional layout of the numeric keypad, which already has a protruded dot on the "five key," providing familiar entry for the visually impaired. This kit provides visually impaired users with improved access to copy and fax functions.

The Braille Label Kit-A1 can be used with imageRUNNER devices, as well as most Color Laser Copiers and NP Copier products.

Application Software

eCopy Desktop�
eCopy Desktop is a client-based software that provides network users with the ability to treat eCopy document files just like paper, right on their desktop computer. With eCopy Desktop, users can view and annotate, perform Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to generate editable text, and store or distribute eCopies from their desktops. eCopy Desktop also allows users to combine or separate pages from multiple eCopies, to create a new document of selected pages, or attach a signature stamp.

For easy distribution of eCopies, the Desktop software uses the system's native e-mail application to create e-mails with the eCopy as an attachment. Users simply employ the familiar e-mail interface to select a recipient, add a subject line and cover note, and send the eCopy on its way.
Remote Operator's Software Kit-A1
The Remote Operator's Software Kit improves access for persons operating the imageRUNNER 70 series devices from a seated position. Users can operate system functions from a laptop or desktop personal computer using the optional Remote Operator's Software Kit, which emulates the imageRUNNER control panel.

All control panel functions including copy, print, fax, scan, and send functions from the touch screen are available, including access to the hard keys. The Remote Operator's Software Kit may also be helpful for persons with other types of mobility or dexterity impairments with the use of an alternative mouse.
